Insurance

I am a participating provider with the most common insurance carriers in Maine, including ANTHEM, AETNA, CIGNA, EBPA, Beacon Health, Maine Community Health Options, United Behavioral Health, United Health Care, US Family Health Plan, and the MMC Physician Hospital Organization.  (I do NOT participate with Mainecare, Medicare, or Tricare.)

If you have this type of insurance that I DO accept, then I will bill your insurance company directly. The copayment amount varies, and ranges between $0 per session and $45 per session.

Typically, the amount of the copayment for insured clients who work with me is $25 per session, provided that there is no deductible, or that it has been met.

The best way to determine the exact amount of your financial responsibility is to call the telephone number on the back of your insurance card, and ask your insurance company the following questions

  • Is Linda Sadoff, LCSW, a participating provider with your insurance company?
  • Is prior authorization required by the insurance company prior to our first meeting (if so, request authorization)?
  • Does the insurance company impose an annual mental health deductible, and if so, what is the amount remaining for this calendar year?
  • What is the amount of the copayment per session that you are required to pay by your insurance company?

You are responsible for any applicable mental health deductible imposed by your insurance company, and any copayment amount per session.

If you have insurance with a company with which I participate, then my office will handle all of the billing. If we determine that treatment should continue beyond the initial visits authorized by the insurance company, then I will submit a written request to your insurance company for continuing treatment authorization.

If you have insurance with a company with which I do not participate, then I will prepare the forms for you which you can file with your insurance company to obtain whatever coverage they may provide to you. Your insurance company can let you know the portion of my fees which may be reimbursed from your insurance company.

Do remember, however, that you – not your insurance carrier – are ultimately financially responsible for services, so that it is important that you gather clear and accurate information from your insurance carrier before you meet with any mental health professional.

Getting answers from your insurance company before you begin working with a professional will reduce the risk that you will be responsible for treatment fees, so is well worth taking the time to make the phone call!

Clients Without Insurance

The fee for a 50 minute session is $100, which is payable at the commencement of each session.  I maintain a limited number of sliding fee scale slots for individuals without insurance who have limited incomes.
